God Be With Us

Blessed are the oppressed who do not become their oppression. Blessed are the God-forsaken who do not forsake God (Cf. Matt. 27:46).

Blessed are the great-hearted. For great-heartedness is God-be-with-you not as hope or prayer, but in fact. Great-heartedness is really living what the world under the sun still dreams of.

Blessed are those who identify themselves with God and not God with themselves.

OH MAN! I'm having quite the day of it. First the pastor of our church convicted me with his sermon and then I stop by here and get blasted by your post! :) ...I wonder where all this is leading me?

The irreconcilability between hope, prayer and fact is often what drives God away from the heart. God can not remain in fact unless he is allowed to hold sway over the dreams and prayers too. Is not keeping the solidity of facts above prayers and dreams the reason for most of our troubles. Is it not what creates the practical man who impedes real progress.

Did you mean to say: "For great-heartedness is God-be-with-you not only as hope or prayer but also in fact"?

"Many are those who identify God with themselves. Few are those who identify themselves with God."

Paul, this is a great insight. Spirit, the essence of life, is the undercurrent that ties us all together - and what fuels frustration for people because we are so different on other levels.

May God bless you in this new year, and vice versa! :)

AVGW: I see hopes, dreams, and prayers as God-related too, so I could well have phrased it as you do.

TIMJAMZ: Thanks, I liked that too – also your closing remark, which I had to read twice, lol, and same to you!

It is within us to be a blessing unto others. It just may take time to sort that out.

Paul, don't feel bad. I often have to read over my own writing twice (or a hundred times).

Sincerely,

MARK, thank you -

N2, good to see you. Yeah, I'd say that's mission-critical for the species...

TIM - It was written well, but that last line had an effect like, I don't know, turning my mind on its heels to suddenly look back at itself. Sort of koan like. I guess more coffee might have helped...

It's good to be back. There were many warm reflections while I was away. They were a blessing. But not as much as seeing you once again.

TIMJAMZ, I've run across them in Buddhism. The one you seem to hear all the time is "What is the sound of one hand clapping?"

LANCE, glad that resonated with you.

HAAMIDAH: Thank you, and you too. That's strange - I somehow missed your comment earlier or there was a delay in its coming through.

It's good to know that some people read blogs who may not necessarily have blogs.

NASRA, thanks for stopping by. Forgiveness is such a complicated topic. I may have just touched on it a long time ago, I think on A Spiritual Diablog. I should post something on that again sometime.

I think that's another way of saying actions speak louder than words. It's a great sentiment (for lack of a better word). :)
