Interfaith Prayer

There is a life I know that does not have its life in the particulars of my existence.

God is always with us, but we are not always with God.

Some use the word God; others do not. Either way, there is One word that has articulated each and all of us into being.

Hopefully more of us will learn to spend more of our time with the One in whom we live and move and have our being. It gives perspective. It gives our species a better chance at long-term survival.

Thanks to those of you who have been reading and/or commenting in recent weeks even as I’ve had to visit the blogs of others less often lately. My medical situation has worsened; we’re still trying to have Original Faith available by July 1st. My very limited blogging time has been mostly spent visiting a few new blogs each week that look related to this one so that more people will be aware of the book, which was a long labor of love and the best I have to offer.

Thanks again –
Paul

Paul, you are a champion of the human spirit and a gentle, articulate, sensitive, man.

I'm so saddened to hear of your condition because I keep hoping for the best, and my world will be a lot colder if I didn't have you out here keeping me grounded.

I have appreciated every thoughtful second that you have made to correspond with me, and the tremendous effort that it took.

I have learned so much about what it really means to study the BIG PICTURE.

Your struggle is as inspiring as it is bewildering, but hopefully you have reached an understanding with your predicament. If anybody is capable of such a thing, it would be you.

Whatever else I can do, please let me know.
I wish that you lived next door.

Love you buddy.

Your perspective is a priceless gift to this world. This prayer reminds us no human is ever alone. You are also bathed in white light.

Each individual develops ways to reinforce his or her own beliefs. We each form our reality at this moment, in our terms, and with our inner power. When unconditional love and self-acceptance are at the core, external appearances or conditions seem like a mask. You realize it doesn't ever affect your soul.

Paul, I'm sorry you're feeling worse. Probably you saw this news story and it may not be of help, but just in case ... Those with rare diseases offered a chance for free treatment

KRYSTYNA, TIMJAMZ & LISA, thanks so much for your support.

TO ANY NEW VISITORS (or, for that matter, familiar faces): Feel free to comment on the first part of the post and not necessarily express sympathy, which might feel awkward if you don't know me. The second, "Thanks" part was an FYI for regular readers. I’m about to enter year 16 of my progressive illness, so I’m about as used to it as can be...

"God is always with us, but we are not always with God." Too true.

I grew up the daughter of missionaries ... attending a multi-cultural boarding school. We laughed together. We played together. Yes, we worshipped & praised together ... different faiths, different denominations. Proof that unity is possible.

it all lies in the way we see god.As long as god is covered by preaching,we humans will fail to see the presence. What we cannot accept is the fact that we belong to something, for we are all so used to thinking of freedom and think about being free from things that enslave us...to actually feel the presence of our light,we need to be unbiased.

BETH: Those sorts of experiences are encouraging, I had something similar when I worked in the public schools in Arlington, VA - an elementary school w/ children from literally around the world.

VISHESH: Yes... while preaching at its best can be inspiring, I don't think we can know much of God if we see God as an Object among objects - a presence that's simply or even primarily external to us.

I hope that too although I had no idea what that G word meant when first visiting this blog, now it's a case of a long long way to go and probably lots of falling by the wayside but at least I think I have a chance now, and I know I wouldn't have got to that point without you, Whatever happens in the future, here's hoping plenty of other people will get the chance too, and that we don't throw it away.
Thanks, thanks, thanks!

MY THOUGHTS: Definitely –

And you’re so right about that tendency we all have to notice what’s wrong in our lives – sometimes, later, it turns out only to be what we imagined was wrong – and overlook how much is good and well.

ANNA: thanks, and for stopping by –

HAZZBUZZ: I really appreciate that and take it as a good sign. I must have gone back and forth a half dozen times, when writing the book, on whether to use the “G-word.” My goal was to use it a way that would make sense to atheists as well as theists by framing it in terms of experience rather than doctrine. If this blog has been even semi-intelligible to people, then chances are that I communicated successfully in the book, where I was able to develop my thoughts a lot more carefully.

hey paul,
You are always in my prayers.
Many a times we don't understand the purpose of our existence. We spend lifetime searching for it.But we are not meant to be.
Accepting this itself is the ultimate gesture of faith we can show on GOD.
regards,
despo.

DESPERADO: I agree with what for me is central to your words here: that faith is bigger than the events of our own lives and bigger than the life of the human race.

MISTI, thanks for your kind thoughts.

HAYDEN, thanks. I do nothing myself that I think really falls into the category of petitionary prayer (basically, asking for a particular favor).

First I would like to say that I enjoy your blog immensely. It talks about some of the things my blog talks about, which is cool. I believe that God has an UNCHANGING hand, and he said that he is the same yesterday, today, and forevermore. But it is up to us to hold on to it. Even if the palms get sweaty, or if the grip may seem too tight sometimes. God said he will reward those that DILIGENTLY seek him, and that means NEVER letting go of his unchanging hand. I hear you are ill and I will continually pray your strength in the Lord and for your health. Check my blog out too, stepsoffaithblog.blogspot.com. Thank You! GOD BLESS!
