SCOTT HANKINS: I don't follow your references; my personal reference is year sixteen of an incurable illness that's seen me lose one physical ability/form of independence after another.
I've gotten really good at moving on just to survive. I wish I'd been half as efficient at that when I was healthy, and I think that the more efficiently we can do the necessary processing of our losses without getting caught up in added grief or resentment - sometimes for years at a time - the better.
:)
Good advice, nonetheless!
